Friday is here friends and its time to share my latest artist crush with you! Meet artist Phillp K Smith, a graduate of RISD! An artist who continues to push the boundaries and confront the ideas of modernist design! Smith draws his inspiration from the Bauhaus movement, the reductive geometries of minimalism. Some of his past projects include the Lucid Stead, a sole exhibition at Royale Projects on El Paseo in Palm Desert as well as his most recent project 'Reflection Field', which showcased at Coachella this year; it was a refreshing addition as well as mesmerizing! Imagine, throughout the festival goer filled fields you stumbled upon 5 massive freestanding structures made of mirrors and LEDs. These interactive prisms of light and color were monumental - with some ranging from 18 feet tall to 17 feet wide! Once the sun went down each of the 5 structures glowed in rainbow LED hues.
