Travel Tuesday: Colonial Era-Charm ~ San Miguel de Allende

Take a trip with me on this #TravelTuesday to the magical, and quintessential, San Miguel de Allende! Just four hours from Mexico City, in Guanajuato, you will discover that this Mexican bohemia and historical gem is not just a small colonial town rich in history, but is home to the artsy. Known as an actual artists’ colony, Unesco World Heritage site, and the seat of Mexico’s 19th-century independence movement. GASP! The city’s historic centre is characterized by baroque churches, neoclassical casas, and cobblestone streets. Virtually free from traffic lights, mega-retailers and fast-food chains, The city has boutique hotels, a vibrant nightlife to add to its colonial era-charm, as well as festivals and folklore that seem to defy the passage of time. My highlights were The Matilda Hotel, Cumpanio for breakfast, and Aperimx, for lunch or dinner inside the luxury boutique hotel Dos Casas! Ladies and Gents, this is the perfect weekend getaway, I'm in love!

Friday Favorite: The Hive-Inn

This modular design is a favorite to win the Radical Innovation awards, and Sky's the Limit!!! Imagine a hotel room made from a shipping container and Uber luxurious!  Imagine the room is themed with your favorite brand, fashion and or designer labels such as Tiffany & Co, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Hermes, Rolex, Ferrari, and more!!! Where do I sign up!!! This clever and creative architectural concept, The Hive-Inn, was dreamt up by the Hong Kong-based architects at OVA Studio. At first glance I thought these colorful containers looked more like a Jenga game than a hotel, but this structure is not intended to tumble over. In fact these designer rooms can be traded in and out without disturbing other containers all by a crane that sits at the top of the structure. There is talk it would possibly travel onto other cities too! Made completely out of recycled shipping containers, these branded rooms would offer enormous advertising opportunities for the coveted and elite.
Innovative & Amazing! Have a wonderful weekend!! XO

La Coscolina: A Hidden Gem

My new fave, and the newest addition to the Costa Careyes family, La Coscolina. Nestled inside the quaint and charming Plaza De Los Cabalerros Del Sol which houses a pizzeria, (Punto Como) formidable Art Gallery (Arte Careyes), and home to cultural gatherings including the Film Festival. Founded by the hip youngsters of the Botero family, yes, the children of the famous artist we all know and love, Fernando Botero, La Coscolina is not your ordinary cafe. The interiors include handcrafted items from Columbia and Mexico, photographic art and coffee table books, European and US magazines, handbags from local Artisans and more! On the menu, it serves up anything from gourmet huevos rancheros to organic Thai soup, colorful salads, Italian inspired paninis, gluten free appetizers, and over 10 plus flavors of Italian Gelato! It also has an impressive international wine selection & of course a killer coffee bar. With an outdoor courtyard of baci ball, hacienda style tables, old school games such as backgammon & chess, this hidden gem is tres tres chic and I'm in Love!
