Salvation Mountain: A Message of Love!

Happy Monday! As I'm en route back from NYC kids fashion week, A special treat for you all! Today on the blog our very own social media director, Dara, shares her recent discovery and experience at Salvation Mountain, in California. It is Pretty Spectacular to say the least!

Hello, KMP fans! It's a pleasure to share with you all this amazing place, which I discovered a few weekends ago as I made my way to Palm Springs for a celebratory weekend. To my ultimate surprise and beyond expectation, we came upon Salvation Mountain! Just East of the Salton Sea in a small town called Niland, lies one man's message of LOVE. I first discovered Salvation Mountain back in 2007 after seeing the film "Into The Wild". This colorful destination peaked my interest and found a home on my bucket list. The unique art installation, located in the Colorado Desert and built solely by Leonard Knight, is 50 feet high and is made completely of adobe clay, hay bails, and TONS of colorful barrels of donated paint. To think that one man did this all by himself is nothing short of remarkable. As you follow the "Yellow Brick Road" to the very top, along the way you explore it's vibrant mazes and messages. There's lots to discover here! From painted flowers, trees, waterfalls, and bluebirds, it seems Love IS all you need and can be found everywhere at Salvation Mountain! KM will surely find a way to capture this amazing place and shoot some amazing artists here, I just know it! Here's to the unknown, travel and wanderlust!! Magic is around the corner...XX DARA.

#FridayFavorite: Jamie Lee Reardin

We've made it, the weekend is here! This week's #FridayFavorite is the uber-talented illustrator, Jamie Lee Reardin. I first discovered this Toronto-born illustrator when she recently hand-illustrated thee chicest cut-outs for each guest at the Dior Beauty dinner party. Gasp! Jamie was discovered by Dior via Instagram and creates some of the most whimsical fashion illustrations I've every seen! Now she's moved on to do a 7 page collaboration with Fashion Mag, on newsstands Oct. 13th. Inspired by theatrical runway productions, couture, and even Tim Burton, Jamie and I share a love for all things fashion and art. She's now living in Los Angeles, pursuing her creative dreams. You go girl! Be sure to follow Jamie's Instagram for daily inspiration. XO

Friday Favorite: Sweet Paintings

Today's #FridayFavorite is the ultimate treat! Artist Othman Toma does something we all wish our kids could! Toma paints with what looks like watercolors, yet it's actually the melting of sweets such as chocolate ice cream bars & an array of colorful popsicles! Vibrant images burst off the page from splatters of uneaten delights! YUMMY! The images below give you a taste of Toma's creative process as he photographs the final painting alongside it's tasty medium. I think I'll try this with the kiddos at home!

#TravelTuesday: The Foundation Louis Vuitton

Let's take a trip to the Foundation Louis Vuitton on this #TravelTuesday with the talented Frank Gehry's! His latest museum project opens this fall in Paris and it is unlike anything the intoxicating city of lights has ever seen! With its complex, muscular & delicate architecture, this modern day crystal palace could easily be noted as a 21st-century take on Le Grand Palais, simply divine! This beautiful building is the first of many artistic acts of the Foundation Louis Vuitton, who's mission is to support the arts as well as education. Spectacular! Foundation Louis Vuitton will open its doors this October to the public for the first time!  Can't wait!

Friday Favorite: Pretty in Lace

Meet Polish artist A.K.A. Nespoon! My Friday crush! This gal brings beauty and elegance to the streets with her Lace style graffiti and leads the pack as women all around the globe infiltrate the so called boys club! This once competitive, crowded, and male dominant scene has become an avenue for female creatives to let loose their talents and show the boys who's boss. Her art is "public jewelry", so look out for her signature intricate lace patterns on the gritty streets and nearby neighborhoods. I must say, it's kind of refreshing to see public spaces with a kiss of geometric and curved shapes! Happy Friday....Look for pretty patterns to brighten your day and inspire your minds! XO
